Interview with Mick Nazerali

October 27, 2008

 By Olga Diaz Potter

1.     As our Whitman County Association of Realtors President, what is your take on the present state of our Pullman/area market?

We have to be positive about the situation.  Reassure clients and let them know that real estate is cyclical.  Eventually things will pick up.

2.     What do you see as the benefits of our new ReaderKEY2 lockbock key?

The greatest benefit is that we can check who’s been in the homes we have listed online.  It is a six year contract that includes mutual/reciprocal agreement with Latah County.  It is a benefit for our association.

3.     How and when did you become a REALTOR®?

I became a realtor in 1990….two days from graduating from UW.  I had sold paint for Sherwin Williams, and actually sold cars while I was in school.  My dad, who was involved in investment properties and was a licensed agent, pushed me into real estate.   We came to Pullman in 1997 for grad school at WSU and didn’t leave.

4.     What would you recommend to do as a new Realtor®?

Enhance your designation.  There are a lot of designations out there…e-PRO®, GRI, ABR, and a new Sellers designation that you can get.  Find your niche.

5.     What is your favorite part of your job?

Meeting People!  Earning their trust!   Finding their dream home and having them recommend me to their friends.  I’m a people person!

6.     Tell us about your family…..

I have a beautiful, supportive wife…Cindy and three children:  Aman, who is seven and is in second grade at Sunnyside, Safiya who is five and in Kindergarten at Sunnyside, and Nina who is two and a tomboy like her brother, Aman.

7.     Complete the sentence: “My favorite time of the day is… in the afternoon because I get to hang out with my children after school.  I get to do all their after school activities like Soccer, Basketball…all their activities.

8.     If there were 6 more hours in the day, how would you spend them?

As much time as I could I would spend it with my kids and family.  I also would play GOLF.  It takes about five hours so having six extra hours would be great.
